Best Comfort Food,
as Chosen by our Readers

Pancake Farm (1032 S State St, Ephrata, PA) is so popular their wait list opens at 5:30 a.m., when they do, and often fills within a couple of hours. Serving breakfast and lunch, Pancake Farm’s friendly staff and delicious food—including crab cakes with lumps of crab and little filler—round out the enjoyable highlights. Pancakes are light, fluffy and taste really good! Newly renovated, with COVID-safe protocols in place.

Waterwheel Café, Bakery and Bar (150 Water St, Milford, PA) is located in an actual old mill and retains a beautiful rustic and historic feel. Social distancing, mask wearing and servers that take washing their hands very seriously make customers feel very safe. Everything is delicious, and home fries, hot chai beverages, coffee and baked goods are outstanding!

The Highspire Diner (255 2nd St, Highspire, PA) is a fun and delicious destination—a classic, vintage diner with an immaculate interior, friendly and fast service and fantastic food! Try the chicken fried steak or crab cake. They have been serving up comfort food since 1952.

Wolfe’s Diner (625 Route 15 North US Highway, Dillsburg, PA) is a frequent sight to anyone traveling on Route 15—to Maryland, DC and all points south. We passed it many times before venturing inside. Its décor is a throwback to the 1950s, when diners were king—with Formica counters, table-side jukeboxes and low, low prices! In fact, it’s a real stainless steel diner built by O'Mahoney in 1955. Amazing service and great burgers!
