The Contemporary Fiber: Breaking Tradition exhibit opens April 11 through May 11, at the Lore Degenstein Gallery, Susquehanna University. It showcases the varied styles and approaches of ten prominent fiber artists—Beth Carney, Linda Colsh, Jane Dunnewold, Valerie Goodwin, Meredith Grimsley, Kate Pasquini-Masopust, Mary Pal, Susan Shie, Kate Themel and Paula Swett.
These artists blend tradition with a contemporary perspective that illustrates the uniquely intimate power of fiber to communicate.
Opening reception in the gallery is April 11, 7 to 9 p.m. The artists will talk about their work, beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Gallery hours: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, closed during university recesses. Call for an appointment when classes are not in session. For more information (570) 372-4059 or visit www.susqu.edu/art_gallery.
The exhibition is free and open to the public; the facility is wheelchair-accessible.
