Our featured speaker is Mark Strobel from The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Milton. Strobel is a Licensed Funeral Director, Licensed Supervisor, and Certified Celebrant. He will talk about President Abraham Lincoln’s life, death, and funeral.
President Abraham Lincoln
Last April, commemorating the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s passing, the Ranck funeral home hosted “The Assassination & Funeral of President Abraham Lincoln” as a community service. The program was created by Lincoln funeral authority Todd Van Beck. One of only five replicas of the Lincoln casket was on display at Ranck’s.
The presentation brochure said the ceremonies for the slain president were “the most elaborate funeral in U.S. history……… Not until the death of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 did so many millions witness a funeral.”
