Middle-School Camps

The Locavore Challenge- This week's young chefs are challenged to create a meal using local ingredients! Participants will plan a meal, first identifying and then incorporating healthy and locally grown ingredients as available at either the Lewisburg Farmer’s Market or the Lewisburg Community Garden. They will learn to read recipes, fill out a grocery list, shop for ingredients at the market, identify equipment and kitchen supplies needed, make accurate measurements, compare nutritional information, learn basic cooking terms and prepare a meal in our fully equipped kitchen with the help of local chefs! Meal will include a salad with homemade dressing, an entrée, homemade rolls, homemade ice creams and healthy beverages. On Friday, participants will set the tables and invite family, friends and BVRA campers to the Community Locavore Meal! In between kitchen time, participants will stay active through games and fitness activities.
