Somerset County’s Annual Tree Tapping Ceremony

Come and join in the celebration as Maple Queen ZXVI Mia Custer and Maple King Matthew Emerick tap a maple tree to officially kick off the maple season in Somerset County. This yearly event is hosted at different maple camps in Somerset County each year. This year’s host: Matthew & Stephanie Emerick of Emerick’s Pure Maple Products, have won many awards for their maple syrup; including first place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show this year in both the half-gallon and quart categories. Guest speaker for this year’s event will be Pat Stefano, the newly elected Senator for the 32nd district. The public is encouraged to attend and enjoy the free refreshments and an afternoon out learning about one of the agricultural genera’s in Somerset County. If the weather cooperates you will be able to see how maple syrup is made. You can see it being hauling it in on the trucks and then follow it thru the many steps until it is bottled and packaged for sale. All of the Emerick products will be available for tasting and purchase. These include: Maple Syrup, Maple Candy, Maple Sugar, Maple Cream, Maple Nut Toppings, Maple Mustard, Maple BBQ Sauce, Maple Drops, Maple Coated Nuts, Maple Tea, and Maple Flavored Coffee. PLEASE NOTE: follow posted signs not your GPS. As the GPS will take you on roads with no winter maintenance and even roads that do not exist. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU!!
