Use Less Stuff

Have you ever noticed how much stuff ends up in the trash around the holiday season? Join us at Shaver’s Creek on November 16th for a fun filled workshop packed with ideas to reuse materials and reduce your waste this holiday season. We will spend some time brainstorming ways to reduce our individual and community waste, as well as have the opportunity to try some fun crafting projects for re-purposed wrapping paper, holiday cards, and gift bows. We will have a variety of re-purposable materials on-hand to create truly unique holiday gift wrapping! If you have used holiday cards or assorted paper you would like to bring, please do so! Throughout the afternoon, we will be hosting the community group Scraps & Skeins whose mission is to facilitate creative reuse of yarn, material, and other assorted sewing supplies. Scraps & Skeins will have a display of items for sale (at amazing prices!) to benefit Strawberry Fields. They will have some free patterns for making additional gift wrapping items. This workshop is appropriate for ages 8 and up. Space is limited, so please call 814-863-2000 to register. Public programs are made possible by the support of our members — thank you!
