BTE's ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

Features Matinees for Students

In December, the Alvina Krause Theatre in downtown Bloomsburg will be filled with the sounds of school students in the audience when Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble presents Ken Ludwig’s ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Nine special school matinees for ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS are scheduled for December 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, and 19. Matinees begin at 10:00 a.m. and the cost is $9.00 for all audience members. Matinees fill quickly; one is nearly sold-out and others are nearing capacity. School representatives are encouraged to call soon for best seating availability. Ken Ludwig’s wonderful play turns the traditional tale on its head in this delightful adventure of a girl and her mouse friend’s journey to the North pole to save Christmas. It is a playful romp filled with schemes, confrontations, mistaken identities, bravery, and all things naughty and nice! The Washington Post described it as “worthy of Pixar, with such a playful spirit you might think the show itself was the product of Santa’s workshop.” In addition to the students in the audience, there are young people on stage. Two casts of young actors from area schools share the performances of ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. BTE's school matinees include the full-length mainstage production of ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. as well as a unique behind-the-scenes peek at the show itself. After each matinee, students are invited to "Meet the Cast" as the actors make themselves available to answer questions about any aspect of the production. To make a reservation for one of these special matinees or for more information about all of the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble’s programs for students, contact Paula Henry, BTE’s School Programs Director at 570.458.4075, email at or visit
