Cancelled: Disability and the American Civil War
Dr. Sarah Handley-Cousins, a clinical assistant professor of history at the University of Buffalo, will give a public lecture on Wednesday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in Faylor Lecture Hall. The title of Dr. Handley-Cousins’ talk is “Disability and the American Civil War.”
The talk is sponsored by the SU Medical Humanities Initiative and is free and open to the public.
Dr. Handley-Cousins is the author of the book, Bodies in Blue: Disability in the Civil War North, a producer of Dig: A History Podcast, and an editor of the Nursing Clio blog. Her research focuses on gender and disability in US history, particularly in the context of war. In addition to teaching courses in U.S. medical history and the American Civil War, Dr. Handley-Cousins is also Associate Director of the University of Buffalo’s Center for Disability Studies.
