Claritas Distinguished Speaker in the Sciences
Nanoparticles have opened up new worlds in science. Before their discovery, no one could have guessed that a material’s properties could radically change when reduced to the nanosize. Nanoparticles assume new, novel properties not seen in normal materials. Atoms can be easily manipulated into non-traditional arrangements, so-called “metastable phases,” which can lead to enhanced energy applications. Dr. Richard Robinson, award-winning associate professor of materials science at Cornell University, will present the key ideas behind colloidal nanoparticles and the impact they’ve made.
