The Merrill Linn Conservancy and the Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance (BCWA) will sponsor a tour of the BCWA's acid water remediation facility in western Union Co. on Saturday, April 15, beginning at 10 am. Participants will learn how the passive treatment system is bringing fish, insects, and other aquatic life back to Buffalo Creek by increasing its alkalinity and raising its pH. From Lewisburg drive 17.8 miles west on Route 45. About 100 yards before Route 235 South, turn right on to Stony Run Road. Drive 3.2 miles to an intersection of forest roads, then turn right on to Buffalo Flat Road. Follow the road for 1.6 miles to the gate of the BCWA site immediately after crossing a stream. To carpool, meet at the Union County Government Center, 155 N. 15th Street, Lewisburg, at 9:15 am.
