Christmas at the Mansion and Holiday Market at the Harris-Cameron Mansion
HOLIDAY MARKET BRINGS HERITAGE CRAFTS TO THE HARRIS-CAMERON MANSION A gallery of some of the finest heritage artisans and artists will gather in the John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion, 219 S. Front Street, Harrisburg, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11. "Holiday Market" is a feature of the long-popular "Christmas at the Mansion," an ongoing program depicting holiday celebrations in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Artisans admitted to the juried show come from Central Pennsylvania. Among the goods offered at the Holiday Market will be painted miniature chests and folk art; Shaker boxes and wood working; nature watercolors; handmade leather goods and soap; Alpaca weaving; redware pottery; Pennsylvania German scherenschnitte or papercutting; and painted floor cloths. Natural greens, holly, ivy and dried decorations are used throughout the mansion. Children may visit Santa and receive a special treat. Continuous tours of the National Historic Landmark Mansion are included with the ticket price of $5.00 per person. Children 12 and under are free. Historical Society members and ticket holders for the annual Candlelight House Tour of the Historic Harrisburg Association are admitted free of charge. Christmas at the Mansion and Holiday Market is sponsored by Highmark. The Harris-Cameron Mansion is located at 219 South Front Street, Harrisburg PA 17104. Free parking is available in the lot behind the mansion.
