Due to the fire on Thursday, the 30th of January, 2014, the Exchange remains closed, but visit us at the Antler, our temporary location at 24 East Main, now home of the Stairwell Gallery. THANKS to Hummel Rentals for their generosity on giving us this space while we rebuild. For hours and other information, please visit our Web site and find us on Facebook.
The Moose Exchange is a project of 203 West Main Street Inc, a Pennsylvania 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The name Moose Exchange pays tribute to the building’s roots as well as its future. Our mission is to support the arts, encourage creativity, promote education and enrich downtown Bloomsburg and the greater community. The Stairwell Gallery continues to provide display space for professional and amateur artists from our region and beyond.
The Moose Exchange has served as downtown Bloomsburg’s arts and community center and also as an entrepreneurial incubator, housing a dozen artists and small businesses. Our public spaces hosted a wide variety of events: Bands and DJs loved to perform in the Art Deco Grille Room, which also hosted frequent music, dance, theater, and educational programs presented to the public by various Bloomsburg University departments. The Grille Room accommodated community gatherings such as Downtown Bloomsburg Inc.’s Chili Cook-Off and Halloween costume contest, and it also served as a popular wedding venue. Our Bowling Alley attracted families year-’round, and in 2013 our Community Market and Community Kitchen received the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission’s Annual Theme Award for our support of locally-grown and locally-produced food.
