Susquehanna Life

In The Fall - 2017 Issue

Sep 06, 2017 05:58PM ● By Melanie Heisinger

Dear Readers,

One of the best things about Central Pennsylvania is its natural beauty and the outdoor recreation that arises from acres of forests, water trails and scenic hills and dales. Each scene beckons to us, inviting and encouraging us to spend time in nature.

We’re indebted to the organizations and businesses that make these resources accessible to us. In each issue of Susquehanna Life magazine we highlight some of the most unique ways to get on the Susquehanna River and hike and bike nearby trails to soak up fresh air, sunshine and wide open spaces.

In this issue, we issue the challenge—where’s your next adventure?—and encourage you to use ideas in this issue to plan your next exploration.

As the founder and publisher of a regional lifestyle magazine, I take seriously my obligation to improve your quality of life with information that is positive, makes you feel good about where you live and extends the boundaries of your thought patterns with ideas that sometimes are provocative.

As you open your eyes, I encourage you also to open your hearts.

Everyone, it seems, owns a media company now, reminds marketing guru Seth Godin in a recent blog. And with that ownership comes a choice—a choice about the words we use, the ideas we put forth and the change we seek to make. It’s only a race to the bottom if we let it be one.

Enjoy the fall season, and make time to get outside. It’s good for your body and your soul!

Best wishes,

Erica L. Shames,

Founder & Publisher
