Filming took place last October and November in Lewisburg,
Mifflinburg and Milton. Locations at press time included: the former Lewisburg
Area High School, William Cameron Engine Co., and the old railroad bridge, in
Lewisburg; LT Evans, Marlins and Custom Care Pharmacy, in Milton; Ard’s Market,
in Mifflinburg, and various farms, including one owned by BJ and Christie Koch,
who went to school with Nick.
So many people have been so helpful with so much that it’s difficult to name everyone, the production team says. Among the standouts: Chief Jamie Blount and John Mahoney, William Cameron Engine Co., who donated space to hold auditions and the town meeting; Alan Ard, Ard’s Farm, who provided the catering; Lois and Michael Purcell, Bull Run Tavern and Inn at Old New Berlin, where the actors stayed during filming; Lexi Morgan, who lent out her downtown Lewisburg home for filming; Ellen Ruby, Lewisburg Downtown Partnership, who posted fliers and talked to local businesses on the production team’s behalf; and Justin and Bob, Cronrath Grenoble Funeral Home, who coached the actor who plays the funeral director.
“People here are so incredible,” reiterated Nancy. “It’s like family. People have been opening up their houses for us to come in—total strangers! I’ve found peoples’ names in the yellow pages and they let us until their homes. It’s incredible, and really special.”
Underscoring this hospitality is the many invitations for Thanksgiving dinner the production team has received. ‘Once people found out we were staying [in Lewisburg] for Thanksgiving—I think we have 10 places to go for Thanksgiving. We should go to all of them!”
