With summer vacation season almost over — and before the holiday rush begins — now is a good time to review your business plans and think about your financial needs, both short and long term. You might need more inventory for the holidays, temporary staffing, an expanded marketing budget, or facility renovations. Maybe you just haven’t paused long enough to take a good look at your plans and resources. Before the holidays, and before tax time rolls around in just a few months, it’s time to look at your business goals to see if you’re on the path to achieving them.
Now is an excellent time to plan a meeting with an experienced, local commercial banking specialist. Things to consider:
1) Sharing your needs and goals with a trusted partner will get you better results. A skilled commercial banking specialist considers all of your business needs.
2) Make sure to review your current banking products and services, including operating accounts, cash flow and liquidity management, investments, employee retirement planning, and more.
3) An experienced commercial banker is trained to help you determine what additional services might benefit you and explore your options, and should have a strong network of partners and resources in the community.
If you’re not currently working with a bank that has expertise in commercial banking, and your business has grown over the years, it might be time to look for a bank that has a full array of business services. Many start-up business owners initially open accounts at their personal banks, and that generally works for a time, but a bank that focuses only on personal financial services may no longer meet your growing requirements. But as your business expands, you hire employees, you buy or rent additional space, and your financial needs get more complicated. Going into the busy holiday season without a strong financial plan and the right resources in place could make the holidays an even more stressful time.
