Acclaimed Celtic ensemble Danú will present A Christmas Gathering on Thursday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University - Lewisburg, PA.

The performance is sponsored, in part, by Coldwell Banker Penn One Real Estate.

Christmas in Ireland is one of the most important holidays for families and friends, as many Irish people living abroad come home to gather in celebration. Local community choirs singing traditional songs for Christmas and Wrens Day are a common site throughout Ireland each December. Music and dance gatherings, in communities both urban and rural, have often combined for generations to offer a great variety of songs, music, and stories for the holidays.

Danú’s Christmas Gathering offers a taste of these extraordinary events, which have been held across Ireland for hundreds of years. Celtic music lovers around the globe have been thrilled by their virtuoso players on fiddle, flutes, button accordion, percussion and the gorgeous voice of Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh along with top notch guest dancers.

Hailing from historic County Waterford, Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles of today, winning major awards from the BBC and Irish Music Magazine. Their concerts are true events featuring high-energy performances and a glorious mix of ancient Irish music and new repertoire.

The group has recorded seven critically acclaimed albums and their live DVD, One Night Stand, was filmed at Vicar St. Dublin.

Danú takes its audiences on a musical journey to their native Ireland, offering a moving and memorable concert experience.  Danú’s popular recordings are available on the Shanachie label and live performances are often broadcast on NPR, the CBC, and the BBC.

Tickets for the performance are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62+, $15 for youth 18 and under, $15 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $15 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling 570-577-1000.
