Oct 27, 2015 06:18AM ● By Erica Shames

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia will present a kid-friendly performance of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University. The 60-minute performance is suggested for ages 3-8.

On tour since 2008, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia's acclaimed show continues to attract new and returning fans. Close to 200,000 spectators throughout Canada and the United States as well as in Hong Kong and Macau have applauded more than 375 performances. Adapted from Margaret Wise Brown's 60-year-old classic, Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals, while The Runaway Bunny's pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring responses from his loving mum. Both feature animal puppets, stunning scenic effects and evocative music that have earned international recognition for Mermaid Theatre. Both tales feature endearing rabbit characters, and the soothing rhythms of bunny banter and dream-like imagery never fail to infuse young readers with a reassuring sense of security. Mermaid's hourlong staged adaptation will bring a new sense of appreciation to stories that have delighted several generations.
