Miller Center for Recreation Announced for 2017

Playworld Systems - Lewisburg, PA and the Miller family were looking for a way to give back to the community that has done so much for them. They found an answer in the creation of the Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness.

The Millers saw a gap in the opportunities already offered in the region and see the wellness center as a way to fill that void and support the area’s many children’s athletics programs as well as give parents a space to focus on their own well-being.

Slated to be finished by early 2017, the Miller Center for Recreation will host four indoor basketball courts, an indoor track, a fully stocked wellness center, a gymnastics gym, child care and play space, and a healthy-eating oriented café.

Located in the Penn Commons Shopping Center, the building will back up to the rail trail and is in walking distance to tennis courts, pool and playground at St. Mary’s Park. An outdoor area of the café is a potential staging area for 5ks, half-marathons and charity walks.

The wellness center’s executive director Jim Mathias said there is confidence in the center’s ability to be financially self-sustainable. The team behind the Miller Center is very passionate, echoed Playworld Systems CEO Matt Miller, about the project. “We understand the importance of play in people’s everyday lives,” he said.
