Other Opportunities to Help Our Earth

Apr 21, 2015 09:49AM ● By Erica Shames

Earth Day is, of course, not until Wednesday, but in the parks and forests the book-ending weekends are when the volunteer activity ramps up each year and 2015 is no exception. Let's focus on how you can give back to the lands you love. Think of it as spring cleaning in the outdoors. You know you feel better when it's done to your house. The very same holds true outside it.

Go to Black Mo on Saturday.

On Saturday, head to Cowans Gap and Prince Gallitzin. On Sunday, visit Little Buffalo (where they'll be having a clean up on Wednesday, Earth Day, as well).

Find volunteer opportunities at Nockamixon, Swatara and White Clay Creek on Saturday. Nolde Forest is the place on Sunday.

Battle invasives at Jennings Environmental Education Center on Saturday; then Sunday finds a special event for scouts at the center.

No matter what region you're looking to visit, our website Calendar of Events, the DCNR Calendar of Events and the ever-expanding Get Outdoors PA calendar are all great sources for things to do and see.
