Sierra Club Hikes Abound!

Mar 30, 2015 11:21AM ● Published by Erica Shames

Every weekend, throughout spring, summer and fall, the Otzinachson regional group of the Sierra Club offers hikes throughout wilderness areas seldom visited by most of us.

The most recent hike was an 8.5-mile moderate trek these intrepid hikers took March 29, at Roaring Creek Tract, in Northumberland and Columbia counties, during which temperatures ranged from 23 to 39 degrees!

Led by Paul Shaw, outings chair, the group took a beautiful hike on the Big Mountain Trail in Weiser State Forest, a ridgetop trail with vistas, old coal mines and, amazingly for PA, few rocks!

If you would like to learn more about upcoming hikes, please email Paul at pshaw@ptd.net. And upcoming hikes will also be posted right here. Stay tuned for more photographs from the hike, and information about the next hike, which takes place Thursday, April 2. (Photograph by another intrepid hike leader, Joseph Rebar.)
