Publisher Addresses Tech Meetup Group

Feb 24, 2015 11:15AM ● By Erica Shames

Erica Shames, founder and publisher of Susquehanna Life Magazine, addressed Tech Meetup Lewisburg’s February meeting, the theme of which was Create Economic Growth Through New Technology and New Startup Companies.

Shames chronicled the growth of the Susquehanna Life brand through the partnership with Locable.com that has resulted in the addition of an Internet platform consisting of a new, interactive web site—SusquehannaLife.com, the Ultimate Online Guide to the Region—a revamped and revitalized Facebook page at Facebook.com/SusquehannaLifeMag, and an enewsletter.

In addition to providing more avenues to disseminate content to an expanded audience, the dynamic Internet presence allows the Susquehanna Life brand to provide area businesses and organizations with both free and paid marketing and advertising opportunities.

“Starting with the ability to upload free event listings at SusquehannaLife.com, businesses and organizations also may upload a free Directory listing to connect with our growing audience,” explained Shames. “Beyond that, we have cost-efficient advertising and marketing opportunities, starting at $50 a month, that incorporate everything from traditional banner advertising to sponsored content, social promotions and even sponsorship of our enewsletter and contests.”

Shames underscored the value of the company’s expansion to the Internet by recounting statistics of a recent three-week-long Valentine's Giveaway contest, involving sponsors Chez Le Duc Salon and Spa and E Tu Bistro, Danville; DiSalvo's Restaurant, Williamsport; and Selinsgrove Hotel, Selinsgrove.

“In three weeks, the contest attracted 611 entries, 39,355 impressions and 390 email opt-ins,” shared Shames. “The strong connection people have to the Susquehanna Life magazine brand continues and expands on our Web site, Facebook and enewsletter portals. Opportunities to connect to this audience are abundant.”
