USA Today recently released its 2014 Readers' Choice Awards, and locally owned and operated Susquehanna Brewing Co. - Pittston, PA made the list. Not only did it make the top 10, but it made the top 5, ranking No. 4 overall. Also receiving honors from Pennsylvania were Philadelphia Brewing Co. at No. 8, and Troegs Brewing Co. at No. 6.

"Nestled into the countryside in Pittston, Penn., Susquehanna Brewing Co. showcases some of the world's most unique and modern brewing equipment, designed by an Oxford-educated engineer to work at maximum efficiency. The milling is one of only a handful practicing endosperm mashing where 90% of the husk is separated in the mill and added to the lauter tun to bypass mashing. Free hour-long tours explore this network every Saturday," the report says.

The brewery was founded just two years ago. For the full report, click here, and for a Dec. 8 story by Eileen Godin on featuring quotes from co-owner Fred Maier, click here.
