This holiday season, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is reviving an audience favorite in two venues. David Sedaris’s The Santaland Diaries, directed by BTE Member Laurie McCants, will be presented at the Community Arts Center’s Capitol Lounge in Williamsport on Thursday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. and at the Capitol Restaurant on Main Street in Bloomsburg, Thursday through Sunday, Dec. 18 – 21; performances begin at 8 p.m.
Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble (BTE) has produced The Santaland Diaries four times previously, but this production marks their first collaboration with the Community Arts Center. “We’ve wanted to work with them for a long time. This show seemed like the perfect fit since the CAC will be hosting David Sedaris himself in the Spring” said BTE Managing Director, Jon White-Spunner. "We are absolutely thrilled to be launching our first collaboration with the amazing Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble with these performances in the Capitol Lounge this December” says Rob Steele, Executive Director at the Community Arts Center.
The Santaland Diaries is a humorous one-man show about David Sedaris’s real life experience working as an elf in Macy’s Santaland one holiday season. The performance runs just over an hour, and is intended for mature audiences (there is some mild adult content).
BTE Guest Actor and previous acting intern Eric Wunsch will be playing the role of David (or, when he goes by his Elf name, Crumpet) and the production is directed by Ensemble Member Laurie McCants and stage managed by BTE Production Manager Michael Yerges.
For tickets: the Williamsport performances will take place in the Capitol Lounge at the Community Arts Center, Dec. 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at caclive.com or by calling the Box Office at 800-432-9382 during Box Office Hours, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Monday - Friday) and 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (Saturdays).
