WVIA Public Media - Pittston, PA, in partnership with the Jewish Discovery Center in Clarks Summit, PA, presents the broadcast premiere of WVIA’s first ever, Chanukah television special, "Eight Nights: A Chanukah Musical Celebration” on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. on WVIA TV.

"Eight Nights: A Chanukah Musical Celebration” will include a menorah lighting, an interpretation of Chanukah classics by Jazz Pianist Phillip Bar and a choral set by the popular a cappella group Shir Soul. Led by arranger, composer and vocalist David Ross, the all-male vocal ensemble has toured across the US and performed twice at the White House Menorah lighting ceremonies. The show will also allow viewers to learn more about the story of Chanukah and its modern-day lessons through short two-minute inspirational messages by Rabbi Benny Rapoport, co-director of the Jewish Discovery Center.

The concert footage for "Eight Nights: A Chanukah Musical Celebration” was taped in front of a live studio audience on Dec. 1, in the Sordoni High Definition Theater at the WVIA Public Media Studios in Pittston.

Encore presentations of "Eight Nights: A Chanukah Musical Celebration” will be broadcast on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m. on WVIA TV.
