"Picasso at the Lapin Agile" by comedian, screenwriter and author Steve Martin ("Saturday Night Live," "The Jerk," "L.A. Story," "Roxanne," "Shopgirl") is a long-running Off-Broadway comedy that imagines what would have happened if Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso had met each other in a bar in Paris in 1904.  Set in the friendly neighborhood atmosphere of a local bar, Steve Martin’s script is full of colorful characters, one-liners, and “wild and crazy” absurdist humor.  Picasso and Einstein trade jokes and insults and muse on the achievements and promises of the 20th century, along with other characters including Picasso’s agent, the bartender, an inventor, a countess, and a mysterious dark-haired stranger from the future.  As The New York Timessaid, “Martin sends ideas onstage in baggy pants, with a cigar, mixing the sublime with the ridiculous so that they can’t be easily disentangled. Very good fun.”

This production features a strong cast of experienced local actors including George Casper, Glenn Wilson, Jessica Paquin, Jove Graham, Maria Lauer Kline, Fred Hooper, Ben Hartman, Andrew Shaffer, Caroline Pogust, Kathy Coup and Brad Wakeman, directed by Ken Kopf.
