Show Business Meets Local Business

The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and MetroAction announce that Joanne Arduino, artistic director of Ballet Theatre of Scranton and director of The Dance Studio, will direct the live entertainment at The Chamber Gala from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at The Theatre at Lackawanna College. Each of the five acts has been designed to pay tribute to our region through song and dance.

Joanne Arduino has been teaching, directing and producing dance and productions in northeastern Pennsylvania for more than 30 years. Arduino has studied and worked extensively locally as well as nationally and internationally. She is very involved in arts in education and community partnerships, serves on several panels and boards and has received numerous awards for her community involvement and commitment to the arts. She is on the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts roster and is the director of dance on the faculty of the NEIU # 19's Arts Alive Institute. She is the producer of the annual holiday gift of The Nutcracker, given as a gift at Marywood University since 1976. Since 1958, the school and company have been an important part of the Scranton and Northeastern Pennsylvania cultural community.

In 2006, The Ballet Theatre of Scranton won the Hometown Star Award for The Nutcracker Ballet and in 2007; Joanne Arduino won the ATHENA Award. Joanne’s business was also a 2011 SAGE Award finalist for the Small Business of the Year.

The Chamber Gala, presented by Peoples Security Bank and Trust, is the Chamber’s Hollywood-style networking event of the year that honors the recipients of the SAGE Awards-Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence. The SAGE Awards celebrate the outstanding efforts of the local business community and their talent, creativity and innovation.
