The Ware Center of Millersville University is throwing a party with a German accent – and all are invited to turn out in lederhosen (or not) for the Lancaster Germanfest on Saturday, Oct. 11, for a festlich (festive) evening of food, music and dancing led by Lancaster’s own haus band, the Bavarian Barons. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Ware Center’s spacious, third-floor atrium.
The Bavarian Barons German Band is made up of all professional musicians, who always perform in authentic German lederhosen and dress. The band was founded over 30 years ago when it was determined that there was a need for a band that played authentic German music in this, the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Since then, the Bavarian Barons has performed not only locally, but extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including for the famous Oktoberfest in Baltimore. The band’s extensive repertoire features German polkas, waltzes, marches and folk tunes, plus a mix of American dance and novelty tunes. Additionally the festival will include the Lancaster Liederkranz Hobby Chor.
The cost of tickets for the event, $35, includes food and drink. Tickets can be purchased online at ArtsMU.com, or by calling the Millersville University Ticket Office at 717-871-7600, or the Ware Center, at 717-871-7018. Tickets can also be purchased at the Ticket Office on the Millersville University campus (Student Memorial Center) and at the front desk in the Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street in downtown Lancaster. For more information, contact Laura Kendall at Laura.email@example.com or 717-871-7026.
